What is Greenpower?

What is Greenpower?

Greenpower Education Trust is a UK-based charity dedicated to inspiring young people in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM) through the thrilling world of motorsport. By engaging students in hands-on projects, the trust encourages creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, vital skills for the future.

Greenpower organises exciting challenges where students design, build, and race electric cars, allowing them to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. The trust collaborates with over 700 teams across the UK, offering more than 30 regional events each year, along with an exhilarating International Final that brings together the best young minds in engineering.

Every year, over 10,000 students, from primary school age through to university level, take part in these competitions, gaining invaluable experience in STEM fields. Through this initiative, participants learn not only about engineering and design but also about sustainability and the importance of electric vehicle technology in our rapidly changing world.

Founded in 1999 by Barry Shears, Greenpower is committed to nurturing the next generation of engineers and scientists, providing them with the skills and confidence to thrive in a competitive landscape. With a focus on inclusivity and education, the trust aims to inspire young people from all backgrounds to pursue careers in STEM.
